Frequently Asked Questions
-
The answer to this question is both no and yes because Kate is a firm believer that food should be used to nourish and fully enjoyed, however it depends on what your health aspirations are in seeking Nutritional Therapy.
Every Nutritional Therapy Programme is highly personalised to align with your health goal, so yes there will be dietary modifications to support your health concern/goal, but no Kate will not only tell you what you cannot eat. In reality, Clients are often surprised how much is added into their diet, but of course if a medically-diagnosed allergy is identified there will be food eliminations, (which Kate will replace with alternatives to ensure there is no resulting nutrient deficiency).
There are also some substantially-researched foods that add zero nutritional value to your body, therefore there may be a few food minimisations in your NT Programme - sometimes temporary, sometimes long-term depending on your health goal.
-
Nutritional Therapy is a complementary therapy and does not replace the medical care you receive from your primary care practitioner(s). Whilst all the recommendations Kate makes are carefully researched and evidence-based, she always requires you to provide the contact details of your Primary Care Practitioner / GP and/or specialist Doctor just in case the need arises for collaborative working to generate the correct and optimal diet & lifestyle programme for you.
-
Yes please.
Prior to your Initial 1:2:1 Consultation you will be sent a link to your encrypted online Portal which hosts your pre-Consultation documents. These are required to be completed at least 72 hours before your Initial 1:2:1 Consultation, since this enables Kate to conduct thorough, evidence-based and personalised research prior to meeting you. If your paperwork is not submitted a minimum of 72 hours in advance of your Initial Consultation, rescheduling will be offered.
-
A food first approach is preferred and highly desirable, however since Nutritional Therapy is personalised dietary supplements may be recommended if there is a therapeutic needs and specific, targeted reasons which will always be explained and discussed during your Consultations.
-
Functional Medicine Tests can be recommended as part of your post-Consultation actions to identify what and where nutrient, diet and lifestyle interventions can most usefully be made.
Functional Medicine Tests typically require blood, breath, saliva, stool or urine samples, and whilst some tests are obtainable from your GP others can be ordered from private Functional Testing Laboratories, (the latter incurs additional cost). If a Functional Medicine Test is actioned, Kate can interpret your results and sculpt your Nutritional Therapy actions and programme accordingly.
